Gorgosaurus (GOR-gə-SOR-əs; meaning "dreadful lizard”) - a genus of tyrannosaurid theropod dinosaur. Historically carnivorous, but I reckon they would’ve loved a bit of vegan cake.

Why would you name your bakery after that?

1. I’m George, known to many of my friends as Gorg. 2. Dinosaurs are awesome.

So what do you make, anyway?

Lots of things! Mostly cakes and cupcakes, with a few other baked goodies thrown in, and just about everything can be customised.

And it’s all vegan?

Yep! No animal products of any kind. I’ve been vegan since February 2011 (you do the maths, if I did it for you I’d have to constantly update this bit), I’m a whiz at E numbers and label reading and constantly pestering manufacturers. Anything that sounds like it wouldn't normally be vegan (e.g. 'buttercream') most definitely is. For more information please see this post.

Will you make me a non-vegan one?

No. Vegan cake is better anyway.

Okay, I’m interested. Can I pop by and see what you have?

Unfortunately not - this is a home bakery, there’s no shop front, and everything needs to be ordered in advance.

Aww fine, how quick can you make me something?

The ready to order bits can be turned around in as little as three days, but this depends on how full my diary is - two weeks is usually enough notice except at busy times (May-August and December). So if you want something for a special occasion, get in contact as soon as you can to avoid disappointment! However, I can sometimes do last-minute orders so it's always worth checking.

Or if you’re just looking for an instant cupcake fix, there are often a few places in the Manchester area that stock them - send a message for a current list!

How much does it cost?

It depends! All prices are based on the cost of ingredients and materials, plus the time taken. If you want a rough idea of prices, take a look at the ready-to-order items, or send a message with anything you’ve seen that you like the look of - I can give you a rough idea of how much a similar cake would cost.

Or, if you already pretty much know what you want, I can provide a no-obligation quote. Just send me a description, I’ll ask a few questions if I need anything clarifying, and I’ll give you a firm price which will be valid for at least a week (but probably longer because it’s not like I put my prices up every 7 days).

What information do I need to send you if I want a cake?

The most important thing is the date you want it for! I’d hate to go through everything and get you all excited about the awesome vegan cake, only to have to turn down the order because I’m fully booked!

Also, please make sure the date you give me is the date you actually want the cake collected/delivered - I bake everything as close to the deadline date as possible, to ensure everything is fresh, and I may not be able to rearrange things later on if you want to receive the cake earlier than that date.

Other useful info to send - the size of cake/how many people you want it to serve, flavour preferences, ideas/themes/colours for decoration, any reference images, allergens to avoid, and a budget if you have one. If you don’t know the answers to one or more of these, don’t worry - I’m happy to discuss options!

Can you make me a cake free from [insert allergen here]?

Probably! Most of my recipes can be adapted to exclude common allergens. However, please be aware that although proper food hygiene practices are followed, I can’t 100% guarantee that it will be free from trace amounts. At least not until I can afford to build a bunch of separate kitchens onto the back of my house.

You mentioned delivery? You mean you’ll bring my cake right to me?

I might! Delivery comes at an extra cost, based on distance, and is only available on certain dates/times. Any cakes taller than two tiers must be delivered, due to their size and weight. If you want to know how much delivery will be, tell me the post code and the date and rough time you'd want delivery, and I can let you know if it is available and how much it will cost.

I want to collect - what’s the address?

The collection address is on the top of your invoice. If you have not placed an order (and therefore do not have an invoice), then unfortunately I can’t give out the full address as it’s my home and I don’t know you. But if you want a rough idea (to see if you’re able to collect), it’s close to the Northern Moor Metrolink Stop.

How does payment work?

Payment is taken in advance - either by two weeks before the order due date, or asap if ordering for a date less than two weeks away.

The current main method of payment is by bank transfer - this is because it should be free for customers to use and contains no fees on my end (unlike card payments or sites such as PayPal). This helps to keep costs down, resulting in lower prices for everyone (yay!).

However, I'm always happy to discuss alternatives if there are issues with any of the above, so don’t be afraid to get in touch!

Okay, I’m sold. How do I place an order?

Head to the contact section and either send a Facebook message, send an email, or use the contact form. I’ll be in touch to discuss your requirements and give you a quote. When a firm order is placed, you’ll receive an invoice to confirm containing all your order details.

I want to speak to you on the phone, can I?

Sorry, but I don't have a phone for business use, and I don't discuss orders over the phone. Here's some more information on why if you need it.

Did you get my message? I haven’t heard from you!

I aim to respond to all messages within 48 hours - but if it’s a little longer (especially during busy periods) then please bear with me! Also check your spam in case the reply has gone there - especially if you initially used the website’s contact form.

If it's been a few days and you're worried I haven't seen your message, please send another one. Sometimes my computer becomes sentient and deletes things by itself, sometimes emails bounce back for strange reasons, so if you're worried it's always best to check!

If you originally sent a message on Instagram, please send another one either by email, through the contact form, or via Facebook. Instagram’s current settings only allow me to be notified of messages if I am already following someone, so I can miss enquiries if they are sent that way.
